DOUNESIDE HOUSE

Location: Tarland, Aberdeenshire
Number of Rooms: 13

A stunning countryside retreat, Douneside House is a little unique, as it is run by a charitable trust. Originally owned by the MacRobert family, Douneside is steeped in character and history, making a stay at this Aberdeenshire hotel really special.

With 13 bedrooms, the accommodation at Douneside also includes a collection of holiday cottages and apartments. The 2018 winner of AA’s Hotel of the Year in Scotland, Douneside House is also home to the region’s only three rosette restaurant and has its own health club on-site. Royal Horticulture Society accredited gardens are included within the hotel grounds, which sits just outside the village of Tarland.

As part of the HANE scheme, apprentices will join Douneside House’s passionate team as they spend time across the hotel’s various departments.  Working as a key member of staff, each week will be varied, offering apprentices invaluable experience in housekeeping, kitchens, food and beverages and reception.

The hotel team is close knit, and covers both the hotel and the health club, which staff can use and enjoy in their time off. Apprentices can also expect plenty of encouragement and support as well as exceptional training as they get an invaluable insight into the hospitality industry.
