What is Hospitality Apprentice Scotland?
Hospitality Apprentice Scotland is a nationally unified apprenticeship programme, combining the strengths of Apprenticeship in Hospitality Scotland and Hospitality Apprenticeship North East to offer industry-led training across Scotland.

How old do you have to be to apply?
The programme accepts 16 – 24 year olds.
Who can apply?
Our apprenticeships are open to individuals who live in Scotland and are aged 16–25 who are passionate about a career in hospitality or professional cookery. Applicants must have a UK NI number.
I don’t live in Scotland, can I apply?
You would only be eligible if you were resident in Scotland at the time the programme starts and you hold a UK NI number.
Do I need previous experience?
No previous experience is required! We’re looking for enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and a passion for the industry.
How long do the apprenticeships last?
Our programmes typically last 18 months with structured learning, rotational training, and clear career progression opportunities.
Will I be paid?
Yes, all apprentices are paid at least the national minimum wage for their age, ensuring fair compensation.
What qualifications will I gain?
Apprentices will complete industry-recognised qualifications alongside practical training. Hospitality apprentices work towards an SVQ level 5 at the end of the programme and successful completion of the professional cookery apprentices will lead to a City & Guilds level 5 qualification in Professional Cookery.
Where are the programmes based?
Apprenticeships are offered across Scotland in partnership with some of the country’s most prestigious hotels and hospitality venues. You can use the postcode finder to find partners in your area.
Can I apply if I live in rural areas?
Yes! We work with employers across Scotland, including rural locations, to ensure opportunities are available locally.
What support will I receive?
You will have:
- A mentor to guide you throughout your apprenticeship
- A training provider to support your learning
- Opportunities to develop key skills and knowledge
Can I progress in my career after completing the apprenticeship?
