Hospitality Apprentice Scotland was formed by uniting two leading apprenticeship schemes: Apprenticeship in Hospitality Scotland and Hospitality Apprenticeship North East.
Together, we’ve built a single, nationally unified programme that continues to empower young people with industry-relevant skills, practical experience, and clear career progression.
This collaboration strengthens our shared vision of fostering Scotland’s next generation of hospitality leaders while celebrating the unique contributions of both founding organisations.
Inspiring Scotland’s Future in Hospitality Since 2014
Founded in 2014 by a group of visionary hoteliers, Apprenticeship in Hospitality Scotland (AHS) has been at the forefront of developing hospitality talent across Scotland. AHS was designed to offer young people a comprehensive introduction to the industry, focusing on multi-departmental training that rotates apprentices through various roles, from front-of-house to event management.

Developing Culinary and Hospitality Talent in the North East of Scotland
Hospitality Apprenticeship North East (HANE) focused on empowering aspiring hospitality professionals in the North East of Scotland. Known for its close ties to local employers and partners, HANE built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality apprenticeships tailored to the needs of the region.
Key Achievements:
- Established partnerships with top employers across the North East, ensuring apprentices gained practical experience in renowned venues
- Introduced professional cookery apprenticeships, training the next generation of skilled chefs
- Recognised for its commitment to fair pay, inclusivity, and career progression

The merger of these two successful programmes has created a new, cohesive initiative — Hospitality Apprentice Scotland.
By combining their strengths and achievements, we now offer a unified platform that retains the best of both worlds while ensuring apprentices across Scotland have access to outstanding opportunities and the greater networking and support which a national Scottish programme offers our apprentices and alumni.
